The article attempts to dialogue around some critical points in the public narra- tive about Artificial Intelligence. Dissemination on these issues must be done in a specialist manner or risk colossal misinterpretations. The paper questions the possible contributions of humanist thought on the subject. An attempt should be made to focus on the complex social fact that is increasingly being conveyed by AI, while at the same time identifying the implications that the AI “umbrel- la” label seems to conceal, as it is too broad. The crucial point concerns both human action and its thought, in a continuous cross-reference between instru- mental thought and margins of freedom that only a new disciplinary complexity can restore.

Abstract
The article attempts to dialogue around some critical points in the public narra- tive about Artificial Intelligence. Dissemination on these issues must be done in a specialist manner or risk colossal misinterpretations. The paper questions the possible contributions of humanist thought on the subject. An attempt should be made to focus on the complex social fact that is increasingly being conveyed by AI, while at the same time identifying the implications that the AI “umbrel- la” label seems to conceal, as it is too broad. The crucial point concerns both human action and its thought, in a continuous cross-reference between instru- mental thought and margins of freedom that only a new disciplinary complexity can restore.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
