Jacques-André Naigeon (1735–1810) devint membre de l’Institut de France en 1795. L’article essaie, en s’appuyant sur les registres de l’Institut, d’évaluer la contribution de Naigeon aux travaux de l’institution et d’examiner dans quelle mesure son intervention est à situer entre œuvre publique et héritage de la tradition clandestine.
