Research conducted in the Hellenistic-Roman quarter of Agrigento by the University of Bologna since 2016 has led to a reconsideration of previous hypotheses regarding the occupation of the southern sector of insula III. Here, excavation revealed the presence of the so-called House III M, a rich dwelling located below street level, on a plot of over 500 m2. Although only 35% of the plot has been excavated, data obtained from analysis of the structure and the similarities with the plans of neighbouring dwellings have made it possible to carry out a graphic reconstruction of the building. This work, although preliminary, highlights the monumental character of the house, contextualising it within the domestic architecture of ancient Agrigentum between the 3rd century BC and the 2nd century AD.
