Kairos and Chronos: An Organizational Perspective for Artists and Managers

This paper is aimed to explore the relationship between Chronos and Kairos in performing arts. After having reviewed how these two categories have been addressed in organizational literature, the empirical field will be inquired through semistructured interviews. The latter have been conducted with several artist who gave account of their creative process and their relationship with colleagues, collaborator, and ultimately with text and artistic performance. The paper suggests new ways in Kairos and Chronos interrelation, grounding a deeper theorization around a not dichotomised ways of seeing these two categories. Finally, the paper draws on the suggestion made by Adler (2006) in using arts for management education. The authors have tried to do this inquiring with a typical organizational issue (temporality) an artistic empirical field.
